I have owned four cargo trailers in the last decade. Here on the West Coast, you have lots of choices. For ONE bike, a 6x10 is sufficient. Two Dynas will fit in a 6', baggers need 7'. New are mostly Haulmark, Interstate, Pace, Aztec, and Carson (Hiway Cargo). Carson is the most trailer for the money, built very stout.
Used cargo trailers are usually about half the price of new. Spring axles are cheaper than torsion, torsion rides a bit smoother and lets the trailer sit lower, but is by no means necessary for hauling bikes.
Check Craigslist and Ebay. A good 6x10 will be around $1500-2000, a 7x12 tandem axle will be $2500-3500. Cash talks in todays economy.

Keep in mind a tandem pulls better going down the hwy but is way harder to maneuver into a tight spot on the side of your house. There are other pluses and minuses to both set ups so do your homework on both. Soon when the Glamis sand dune season is over there will be some coming up for sale in your area.

As long as you are only going to carry one bike, a 6x10 is perfect. Most of the 7' wides are tandems - more maintenance, more tires (they rot long before you wear them out), nearly impossible to move by hand, too wide for regular mirrors, more wind resistance, etc.
Even a 5' wide would be enough, but you hardly ever see one with a ramp door. Be sure to get one with a side door (mine has one on EACH side) as it makes life and loading much easier!

I would guess they would be packing it in after Easter. I never went out there after that but some did, just not many, way too hot! But it's been 10 years since I ventured out there.
