I just moved from a BMW to a Dyna and in the BMW world there's a big dealer in Chicago who offers 20% off all BMW accessories to everybody all the time. He does a huge business with phone & internet ordrers. I guess there's no similar discount accessory dealer in the Harley world.

 

No there are a few dealers out there that sell parts/accessories at a discount.

This is the reason why I order online from chicagoharley.com 20% off year round. No need to take BS from nobody I prefer to do my own work at my own time. Sometimes you want to give some work to dealership but when I hear stuff like this it pisses me off... I rather buy parts online and go to a local Indy and have him do it for 30% labor the stealership charges you... I try to do most of the stuff myself though ... gives me just as much pleasure as riding the damn HOG..

 

Redultra02, got your PM, thanks! Looks like quite a variety of practice across the country and it all depends on the dealer's attitude.

 

The only time I've been able to get 20% off at my local dealer has been when I am buying a new bike and only then by telling them that that's the only way I'm buying a bunch of stuff from them. The idea of supporting my local economy flies out the window when a local dealer won't support me as a local customer. If I can find a 20%off plus free shipping deal it's really 26% off because I don't pay sales tax.

 

Bought a used Sportster from a harley dealer in Wisconsin and he gives 20% to everyone all the time on their website.

 

My dealer gave me 15% off everthing extra from the time I ordered my bike till it came in.They installed.They have a few open houses each year where they have 20% off.
The wife and I took a weekend getaway this past weekend to Galena Il.Stopped by Galena HD.I was looking at a $200 jacket and the guy offered 25% off.I couldn't turn it down,so I bought it.Never been there before in my life.Very nice people.I will be sure to stop there again.

 

My dealer gives military a 10% on parts, accessories and labor. I'm not sure if they offer a HOG discount as I already get the military discount. I also order from Lake Shore Harley online, especially for more expensive items.

 

Mine gives back a 100 buck certificate only after spending 1000 bucks.
