I think the skull ones look a little gay, but I have found that they are good in cold weather, so I got a couple at Dick's Sporting Goods that are a neoprene mask built into what looks like a regular bandana - better for cold than the 2 bandannas I used to wear.

I had to look for quite a while to find one without the, IMHO, silly skull thing on it. Finally found one with just a small H-D logo on one cheek. Great for riding on those chilly mornings. Saves me from having to pull out the full face. I just wish it were a little longer, so it would tuck down into the front of my jacket a little more. Regardless, money well spent.

I have a coyote brown polar fleece I wear when it is cold and a black cloth skull face for warmer weather riding. Even with a windshield, I have been hit by bugs and debris.
I have seen anyone mentioning wearing one while riding in a crosswind. Out here in western Texas when we get 30 with gusts to 50 and a crosswind to boot, the wind will literally suck the air out of your lungs. The face mask or balaclava keeps that from happening. The first time it happened to me, I had to turn my head almost 90 degrees away from the wind so that I could breath. Startled the hell out of me. Just my .02

Below 40 I wear one made for snowmobiles. It is thinner where your helmet fits over. Was about $10 at Dicks.

I bought a skull mask today. People seem to get out of my way now. really, like pull over. Amazing. I didn't expect much reaction. It fits very nicely and is warm. Arrrrrrr I wear a mask only if the weather is cold/windy/miserable, not to scare you if you see me. More of a laugh. After all it is what we are, isn't it?

No skulls or anything - just black polar fleece.
I have seen a few people wearing 'masks'....usually what I would call "POSERS", and tryig to look 'bad'.
I agree that they can come in handy at times.....but generally when you see someone with one on, I think POSER.
Now, if you need to keep sun of your beak, there is something called SUN BLOCK.
Check into the next intersection you come to (or Walgreens) and pick some up.
Face masks fall into the same category as "pants hanging down past your butt", "Hoodies", and anything else "Gangsta".
If you have a face mask on, don't wave at me..."YO?".

Smile facemask

I wear one almost every ride. they really help cut the cold and are good protection from flying debris on the road.
