Yes, because of the economy many state fees and taxes are going up. I read a finance acticle about NY. The state raised taxes quite a bit on the very weathy to raise revenue.
The very wealthy just changed their permanent residence to one of their other homes in a different state. The tax actually bought in less money.
The U.S. has made it harder for the very wealthy to move out of country and change citizenship. The tax is 50% of everything.

Oklahoma bases auto tag tax on newness of vehicle and value. But I tag my vehicles through Cherokee Nation. It's a little cheaper than state.

Here in SC my 06 SG $234.00. Believe it or not they include a school tax in your registration fee plus all kinds of other BS.

Tax is partly based on value. In CA eyes the Road King has "depreciated" in value somewhat.....or maybe you were on last year's (2008) cycle.

Indiana is near California rates, always has been.

I'd be singing songs of joy if I paid the newly raised NY rates!

The PR of Ohio is bad but not $312 bad...yet. We are the #4 state for highest taxes...which is why I am leaving soon. If I didn't have kids here in school I would be gone so I have another 3-4 years of being butt raped by the Dems and it's bye bye.

They actually have a "commercial activity tax" for business here. It is for the "priviledge" of doing business in Ohio. That is actually what the form says. It is minimum $150 a year if you had any "commercial activity".
