Default Service Manual vs. Parts Catalog....

First off, I am not talking about the HD Parts & Accessories catalog.

I have a 2006 Ultra.

I already have the service manual for my bike. (99483-06).

I've learned there is also a Parts Catalog for my specific year.
HD part # 99456-06

It's about $48.00......

What's in it, what's different than the "service" manual and is it worth the $48.00?

Thanks for the insight.

Well I simply googled that part number and pulled this from one of the search results : "It includes detailed illustrations of every component and the part number so you can easily order it from your local dealer."

Yep. Worth it if you do your own work and plan on keeping the bike for a good while.

Besides the exploded views of most things you can look up the part numbers yourself.

It lists all the parts (every one) by part number. Very nice to have especially if you order online. It is nice to have a complete list and not have to trust the guy at the parts counter to order the right thing.
I don't know about you '06 but for my '08 I also bought an electrical diagnostic manual.

Great for looking up part numbers, that way you don't have to rely on those bone heads at the stealer ship to get em right. Also helps for assembly, well worth the money.

Thanks guys for the great replies.

I'll be ordering one, then off to Kinko's for the coiled binder.

I do not like where HD is being forced to go with the new EPA chit.

My Ultra is my 3rd NEW HD purchase since '93.....

.......this '06 is mine til the end. Gotta take care of her.

Thanks again.

You gotta love the Moco. Not only do they make money off of you selling parts, they also make money off of you getting you to the point of being able to buy their parts. Personally I don't buy enough stuff to figure the parts manual is worth a $48 investment. The dealer can spring for that. But the service manual is the best money you will ever spend on your bike.

Google that part #, I have gotten my manuals for around 30 something ( depends on the model though ). Lake Shore HD and Stone Mountain HD usually are cheaper than most anywhere else.
Parts manual saves a LOT of time at the dealers figuring out which part to order.
Also, the exploded views help regarding pulling parts and putting them back on. Especially if you have a beer or two doing the project - don't ask me how I know that. +1, one of the best things you can buy for your bike.
