Default Fxr 1996

Well it seems our search is coming to a close and soon my hubby will have his Harley. Yay! The bike we're looking at is the 1996 FXR. Just had the top end rebuilt. Needs a little work, like a new oil cap. The purchase is contingent on whether or not it passes emissions (yes in AZ they make you test your motorcycle for emissions). The forks are a little 'spongy'. How hard is it to replace the springs and oil in the forks? When we get it and hopefully everything passes, i'll stick some pictures up for you all.

Everytime i've posted something here, i get the best response. Thank you all! I'm sure we'll be back here again.

Hello new75.
Are you looking at a FXD? There were no FXRs ( though some will call an FXD an FXR re:eBay ) in 96. 94 was the last year for the FXR, other than limited editions in 99 and 00.
Hope it is a good deal on the bike, good luck.

I found the front springs weren't stiff enough for me either. I changed to a set of Progressive springs. Not a hard job at all.

Yes, you are right. It was a 1993 FXR, not 1996. The jerk sold it out from under us. Either that or he knew it wouldn't pass emissions so told us it was sold. Sigh! Hopefully we find one soon. I never knew Harley shopping was so difficult. Thanks for the feedback.
