Default Battery PRICE comparsion

Before the "battery differences" are brought up; realize that I am an electronic technician and have been for 35 years. I know about, volt/amps, watts, cranking amps and lead plates.
I decided to install a new battery. The battery being replaced was 2 years old; however, my philosophy is better safe than sorry. The old battery showed strong life but again my choice.
Did some research, got the HD part number spoke with the local HD stealership; $253.00 plus taxes. Believed it would be worthwhile to check with the other major battery suppliers. Most of the suppliers; for the SAME battery, were charging $148 plus taxes. Battery Direct - $120 including taxes.
Just another example of HD "stiffing".....errrrr......taking care of the customers.
Have a GREAT day.

What battery is that? I have an 08 SG and mine was $150. I thought all the touring bikes used the same one.

I installed this battery in one of my previous rides. Great price for $89.00 shipped. Everyone has their opinion on "off brand" batteries and I use them all the time. Like everything, you can get a lemon, but so far so good.

yep; you definitely did do your homework. Good information. thanks.
that's a huge price difference.
I'm sure you know, everything at the Stealership is ridiculously over priced.

Holy crap! I bought and installed one for a friend on her '06 Fatboy and the lowest price was....drum roll please....my Harley dealership. I don't remember the exact price but I know it was well under $100. Oh, I'm still running the original battery on my '04 Wide Glide, just put the tender on it for about 8 hours each month during the winter.

See....I don't get this thread.

You clearly state how "educated" you are about electronics and batteries in general, therefore I took from this that you don't want anybody's opinion on the subject.

Fair enough.

So the purpose of this is to let us all know that you researched and found out that HD is sometimes overpriced?

Thanks.

I'd get the most expensive battery. It might not be the best but better safe than sorry.
Seriously, thanks for the heads up on the price differences.

What part of the world does a HD battery cost 253 bucks in?
