trailers
ok i know what everybody thinks of trailers but i am buying a utility trailer was looking at a 5x8 but my buddy and i thought if i pay for a new one might as well get one big enough to carry 2 bikes. we had a bad experence last year on vacation. so if we were to buy one does anybody have any ideal how wide would be good for 2 bikes?

I had a 6' X 12' enclosed trailer that hauled two large cruisers and gear to Bike Week. The gear in front then the first bike was easy. the second bike front tie downs were more difficult unless your small and thin. I didn't have the side door that would have made the job easier.
The bikes handle bars had 2" clearance from the wall and two" clearance between them.
One bike was a FXSTC and the other was a Suzuki M109. The softail had the mini apes. The two inch clearance was with two VTX1800's. They are big fat cruisers and could fit.
A new 6X12 with a side door and beaver tail are about $3,500 around here.

I've got an open 5x9 and I can carry my Heritage and my Lowrider, but it is tight - engine guards and bags on the Heritage, and none on the Lowrider. I generally only carry one bike. I got a great deal on the trailer used on Craig's list, but if I were to carry two bikes regularly, I would get a 6x10 or 12.

I have a 7 x 12 enclosed trailer and it will haul a Road King and Heritage in stagger formation with no problem.

You can fit 2 road glides on a 6 x 12 open trailer one up close to the front the other staggard back some just put them on the trailer for my dad and his buddy last night as they are leaving for bike week. Anything smaller than that and you would have to put one bike in back wards and it would be very very tight.

Give me cpl min and ill have some i took the other night but they are cell phone pics. We looked at putting the bikes on my dads buddies enclosed but it was just shy of 6 ft on the inside wide and 8 ft long. One of the bikes would have to have been put in back ward and you would have had less than 1 inch clearance between saddle bags to back it in and then no way to tie them down secure or get in to do it.
