I'm right there with you on XM and have it on my bike (listen to "classic vinyl" & "Highway country" a lot), but because of the tiny antenna, it cuts out every now and then. On our AZ/Utah trip, there were several instances I got no signal at all. Esp in canyons and mountains. So, an iPod was great to have. Of course, because my iPod classic doesn't have flash memory (the nano, shuffle and touch do), it froze up a couple of times due to the vibration I guess, so I was w/o tunes when the XM was on the fritz.

I have virtually every song listed so far on my player already.
Here are 2 that I am surprised haven't been mentioned yet.
Already Gone by the Eagles
I've Been Everywhere by Johnny Cash

On the lighter side, Reckless Kelly, Ryan Bingham, Jason Boland and the Stragglers.
Great thread Monstead.

great thread; what else to do early in the AM than update music list on MP3 and get a couple barley pops down your neck. Some good choices on here; the mention of Montrose just made me go back and find some old Mountain and Traffic. Ya'll added some choices I haven't thought about in years....thanks much!

My music is 96 cu in of Harley Davidson orchestra. The brass section consists of a set of Vance & Hines Big Shot Staggered, the woodwinds are composed of Nature's own wind symphony. String section is made up of two Metzeler ME880's playing their harmony on asphalt and concrete. The music is so sweet and mesmerizing that a percussion section is not normally needed or present but on occasion Mother Nature will call forth some rain and thunder to provide an interesting rhythm beat. For me, no other music is needed to enjoy a ride.
I do love all the music suggestions though and may add them to my ipod for my jogging tunes.

How do you listen to music while you ride? Oh yeah, iPods and Geezer Glides.
I seriously have never ridden a bike with a stereo decent enough that the music sounded good at speed.
I got some nice ear buds for my iPod but haven't tried them yet.
This is what I would listen to, well this or Neil Diamond.

What a fun thread, and what a great list of tunes; thanks. As for me, sometimes I find that a good non-vocals jammin' instrumental really makes for great riding tune. For example, here is a tune from master guitarist Joe Satriani.
