2 Riders Down - RIP
Was following a couple on their Kawasaki 1000 around noon today on the highway. A small black car tried to pull a U-turn directly in front of them. Bike had no chance. We were about 1/4 mile behind them at the most. Driver was DOA instantly. The women passenger hit a cement center divider - she died a few hours later in hospital. As the article says, the car was stolen - the driver took off - does not mention the open can of beer in the front seat. If I had know he was running, I would have taken off after him but was dealing with the driver of the bike.
It was a beautiful spring day here today and these people had just passed us and waved. Not doing anything wrong and were riding safe (not speeding). In a heartbeat, they were both gone. I had to use my Harley cover for the guy so that kids in passing cars could not see him.
I can't think of a worse way to start the riding season.....
