have seen belts that hold water bottles on the side, kind of like a fanny pack idea. It might not be so great while your riding to try to get it out, but at a stop light it would work well.
I have one of these fanny packs with the water bottle holder and they work great. It's actually pretty easy to drink while riding. When riding in Arizona in the summer, it really makes a difference.

For me this is much better than a camelback, don't have to have something extra on your back when it's 110 degrees, and you can also fill it up easily. My wife has a camelback she hikes with and i tried it but too much maintenance and too cumbersome. A plain old fashion refillable water bottle works best for me.

I have the kind with the pop titty on the top so you can easily open and close it with your mouth. Makes it easy to drink and ride at the same time.

I've got one of those. It is more difficult than you would think to find a place on your handlebar to mount the thing cause of interference with gas tank etc. Finally mounted it outside and low on the left side. Only used it rarely but it is handy when you're on a run.

Good Luck

I have the bag guard holder. Here's a tip for you. Freeze bottled water. as it thaws you have cold water to drink. extra bottles can be wrapped in terry hand towels to stay cold longer and you have a cool towel to wipe your face.

That's why you ride 2up! Best cup holder in town. This particular type cup holder can also hold snacks and scratch your back when needed.
Don't tell my wife i said that.

I have a Kruzer caddy, I use it all the time, I can get it to fit a 24oz bottle (replacing the foam with a thinner kind), Someone just brought me a camelbak as a gift to use on really long journeys, and its pretty good, but I prefer to not carry anything on my back.

I also carry an mini ice chest, and we freeze water bottles to use them on the ride, they work out pretty good on hot days.

I thought that was the whole purpose of stopping at a bar across from the gas station.

I have the Butller Mug. When traveling just stop at any 7/11 or gas food store and fill the mug with ice and buy a 32oz bottle of anything and your good to go for hours on end. 2 gas stops later repeat the above.
