Corvette engineers when asked the same question as what was best to polish chrome advised the group at a seminar that you can not polish chrome. It is already as polished as it can get. You can clean it with mild soap.
There is a meter that measures reflectivity and there is nothing to improve beyond clean chrome.

Even after washing and drying there is a film left on it. Can't use the same carnauba type car polish to clean it all the way but you can use chrome polish.

I've been using a can of Kmart Chrome Polish/rust remover that cost 78 cents and has to be close to 30 years old. I'm going to be bummed when it runs out, because I've tried newer stuff but this stuff is king when it comes to getting burned rubber, road gunk, and bugs off the chrome pipes. Newer stuff doesn't even come close to working as well as this stuff. Of course newer stuff probably won't cause funny tumors either....

How about custom rims. Go to a Vette show and look under the hoods. Some a almost 100% chrome.

after I wash the bike I spray it with pledge and buff, the overspray, and whats on the rag do a nice job shining the chrome.
