Before I bought my Mustang I was thinking about a gel seat or gel in the seat. The guys I talked to like them but for the one thing they all seemed to mention. Leave it in the sun and your *** will sweat for the next hour after getting on the bike. They absorb and hold heat.

I have a gel pad and it works pretty good. I only use it on long trips. It was a worthwhile $100 investment.

Denny, I had Saddleman's install a gel pad in my stock Fatboy seat. I does make a difference. When I had my C&C seat made, I also had the gel pad installed. I like them both.

best thing I ever did was buy a seat that fit me right. I never noticed much of a difference sitting on gel or using memory foam on other seats. I have found the best solution is a nice firm seat with a flat seatpan. Mustang and Corbin are the best seats I have ever sat on. With the right pan, you don't even need cushioning hardly at all. And if you have a seat with cushioning, the denser the better to provide optimum support.
The worse part of gel to me is the heat retention. out in the sun for a short while and that seat gets hot then stays hot.

This may seen like "too simple of a solution" but here it goes anyway. If you are thinking you need a softer cushion for your cheeks, slide by the automotive counter at Walmart and pick up theirs for $19.95. It is big, black and doesn't slide off the seat. It is softer than a new born baby's bottom. People ask me all the time where I got my gel pad. I always say I ordered it off the internet and paid $119.00 for it. If you tell some people that you only paid a few bucks for something they automatically start to stick their noses up in the air and start to mumble "fool".

I put a gel pad from Pro Pad in my old Yamaha seat. It helped a little, but not much. If I do anything to my Super Glide seat it will be putting in memory foam or send off the seat to Mean City Cycles to have them put in memory foam.
