See Oh, it isn't necessarily the dealer we frown upon but rather their ability to overlook price since it's comin from our pocket to theirs! Not sure if you've heard yet, but HD is more often short for Hundreds o' Dollars. Yeh, parts/accessory prices are a shocker comin for any other world. And the dealers have figured out that we want the stuff more than the green backs! You'll get used to that, eventually...

BTW, welcome to HDF!

+1 to what everyone said especially the test ride part...there has been a few bikes i really liked the look of but when i test rode it it completely changed my thinking...and do yourself a favor...pick up a service manual for the bike you get...youll save A LOT of money by doing the simple things yourself

ps: 20-25k for a sportbike is just getting broken in!

At 6'6" 270 you're going to look like a giant on a mini-bike on anything other than a Touring bike.

Yes stealers are pretty much frowned upon you could say their no different than new car stealerships and with 10-12k you should be able to get something pretty sweet ! I personally recommend a softail Buy 1 for 9-10k put about 2k in customizing it and you'll have 1 fat a$$ ride!

The HR lady at work's husband builds custom Harley Davidson choppers for a living. I can probably get him to put them on for me for a good price.

I'm 6'5" 275 myself, my Custom fits me like a glove, foward controls are a MUST! Some apes help too, and got mine for way less than 10,000. The deals are there if your eyes are open!!

A Softail Custom (FXSTC) will serve you well. So will that Fatboy you like. Add forward controls and apes and, for me, any bike needs highway pegs for long rides. Or find a Road King Custom (FLHRS) like I have, put forward controls on it and you will have one comfortable ride that looks like a touring Fatboy. Good luck and welcome to the family.
