Meeting someone in person and finding out what they are like and whether you have similar interests and values is better, in my opinion, than finding someone on the internet and agreeing to meet them somewhere and find out they are complete idiots, crazies, reckless, druggies and have nothing in common. You could get lucky and find some good riding companions, but .........not for me.

You don't even have to be a member to attend a meeting to see what is going on. But if you are one of those people who sit in a corner and act like you won't enjoy yourself, you will probably succeed in doing so.

SURE......YOU'RE A LEGEND IN YOUR OWN MIND...

Rent a truck and a trailer????? Time and money and leave your bike at the side of the road????

I guess you'll also find a mechanic that will lend you all his tools.....certainly can't carry all

the tools you would need for any major repair on a bike....

Next time just try saying....you actually ride a scooter, you like to pretend to be a

mechanic or you can't afford it....that would actually make your post a little more

believable.

I have been a HOG member for the past 10 years. I mainly use the HOG Fly & Ride program. Well worth the membership if you travel a lot and want to ride.

+1, Seems very "clicky" in my area. Too many rules...

I have been until this year when HOG is trying to hold their national rally in North Myrtle Beach, a area that is obviously anti biker! I will not renew!!

I'm a national member only.. 1st year free but I renewed because I get a $85 discount on my insurance. So (subtract $45 membership fee) I save $40/yr on insurance and get the roadside assistance and a magazine.

Remember you are only hearing one side of the story here. There are many people who wouldn't fit in socially in any group. I think they are the ones who are discouraging others from joining HOG. Go to a meeting or two, mix in with the members and give it a chance before you make up your mind.

I think the membership is a good way to get people together that want to be in charities and do things in the community. I also think if you don't like doing that sort of thing like me you have the ability for discounts on motels, Harley Dealers, Fly and Ride for the winter months. 45 dollars for 12 months is only 3.75 a month. If you can afford to have a Harley sit in the garage get your membership, pins, patches, and magazine and enjoy the opportunities and little perks it can get you

I just renewed a few minutes ago, mainly because the state rally is in my home town this year.
