Did mine 7 years ago. 5 years later I had cataracts in both eyes.

 

Was it determined that Lasik was the related cause? I highly doubt it.

I had it done in 2004 at age 54. My eyesight before was about 20-200 and afterward 20-15. I now at age 60 use reading glasses but I knew that would be the case before the lasix. Lasix works on the corena and the need for reading glasses is due to the lens.

 

So you are saying if you need reading glasses only then this procedure it not going to work?

 

You know I was told "no" but I'm sort of bitter over the whole thing.

 

Went with Lasik about 10 years ago. Was at 20/180 and 20/220 when I went in, came out with 20/15. Haven't rechecked my vivion since because I haven't noticed my sight getting any worse at all. Before that I had some prescription Ray Bans I wore when riding. If I still needed prescription shades I would probably get some Oakley Gascans. I wear the normal versions when I ride now and they work great.

 

Prescription dark sport glasses. Got them at Wal-Mart.

 

I'm 54 and my optomitrist told me I wasn't a suitable candidate for lasik surgery. I have astigmatism, far sighted and need reading glasses. I normally wear a 3/4 helmet especially when my wife rides with me for the use of the intercom and FM radio. I have tried the cocoons and didn't care for them. Considering a pair of riding glasses with my perscription installed into them so i can go back to a half helmet during the summer.

 

I would consider "Guard Dogs" riding glasses.
I picked up a pair of clear "Commanders" that fit well over my current specs. I just dug up the box and see they also have a Rx line of specs. With many lens options. Thirty bucks is all I have in them. And when and if I wish to replace the lenses with tint or amber lenses they are available.

I had something like 20/800 vision (without contacts) and couldn't read the big "E" unless I was within 6 feet of it. I saw 20/15 with my contacts. I had lasik in 1999. I was on the cusp of not being able to have it done because people with such "bad" eyes have thin corneas and they're sometimes too thin to do the procedure.

Both brother's and I had it done around the same time. All of us had bad eyes before lasik. All had excellent results. Unfortunately, all 3 of us are now dealing with our eyes getting bad again. This is not the fault of the lasik as it doesn't just "wear off" or "go bad"...it's simply a part of our aging process.

In my case, my cornea is flatter as a result of the lasik. This is making it difficult to find a contact that stays centered and in "place" in order to see 20/20 out of it. I've been dealing with this for about a month now trying different brand lenses. May have to deal with having less than 20/20 with contacts and may just use glasses when I want to see really well (like on the motorcycle!) Bummer for me! Oh, and since the lasik, I have more of the star-affect with lights at night.

I'd still recommend it...
