Default The 4 steps

1. Make it run.
2. Make it handle.
3. Make it fast.
4. Make it BULLETPROOF!

First maintenance, Vance&Hines 2n2,1 V&H Big Radius, and a Self Learning Module, answer PERFORMANCE. I FORGOT Ape Hangers first? Performance or Looks? I like the way they handle so I'm putting them in the performance CAT!

Comfort and durabilty, I don't want a Rat bike, but looks aren't all that important. And if it'll go a little over the speed limit I'm happy.

I've added pipes, chrome pegs and a stainless steel shifter linkage, all of which contribute to form and function.

I do a Stage 1 and seat/handlebar/pegs immediately. Then it's bling, bling, bling for about 4 years until my engine has about 40,000 miles on it. Then, since it's time to do a slight engine rebuild anyways, I rebuild/improve/enlarge the engine.

I keep my bikes for 20 years. If I only kept them for a couple years I would do a Stage 1&2 immediately and not add any bling. I find that you get almost no money for selling a used bike with bling, but you do get a bit of money for selling a used bike with engine improvements.

Both. Chopped rear fender and custom hand tooled seat for looks (other stuff, too), and hi flo air cleaner and RB Racing LSR 2-1 for show and go. Everything from here on out is for more go.

Well, since I haven't touched the engine yet (it's one year old this month w/~15k miles and totally stock) I'd have to say looks and comfort. I've added come chrome under the windshield, changed the air cleaner, timing cover, and derby covers as well as the fuel door, put eyebrow trims on the headlight, passing lights, and turn signals. Some of the changes have been functional like the tour pak luggage rack and drivers back rest. I recently changed the tail light, turn signals, and tour pac lights to LED's, adding turn signal function to the tour pac lights. I also added a factory color matched tour pac spoiler w/tail and brakes lights. Then there's the Sirius radio, chrome gauge/speaker trims, dash pad and highway pegs. The single most expensive accessory to date and the only one I'd keep if I had to get rid of everything else I've added, has been my Russell Day-Long Saddle. Eight+ hours a day, 500+ miles a day, and doing that for multiple days in a row w/ zero butt burn = Priceless!

Oh yeah, I added that power port in the tour pac that's found in the 2010 Ultra Limited the other day. I may not use that much but it'll be darned handy when I do need it.

Probably the Stage 1 mods will start in the next month or so.

Ride Safe,
Steve R.
