Would you buy a used Harley off of eBay?

I have bought 3 bikes so far off eBay. Almost 3 years ago I bought my 89' Sportster off eBay. The Sportster needed a tune up as expected but was a nice bike,I bought a new 1 also when I picked it up so I gave it to Dawn for her B-day.
The 2 Rockets we bought from the same seller just came last week. The FZR (my buds)is like new with 7500 miles on it but my Ninja had a couple minor issues not disclosed, like a sloppy but sturdy seat-frame upgrade & it needed a tune up and exhaust fixed & 1 mirror was broke & a couple fairing issues that weren't mentioned.
The fairing pieces are $250 & I already have new mirrors $60 & wires & plugs were $40 and some minor exhaust work & cleaning up the sub frame upgrade is free from a good bud of my I ride with
I just went ahead though and bought new complete Vance & Hines stainless system from header to canister for 1/2 off today. The bike will be a real nice custom bike with the extra $1000 I'm putting into it & it does run excellent now. But for the extra $ I put in it I maybe could have got a Ninja ZX7R/ZX9R/ZX11 instead of a ZX-6 even if it will do a 170mph already
The Ninja is a gift from my GF for X-mas & Valentines. I get a t-shirt for my reg. x-mas and when she gets her tax return she buys me something, her & the kids all get what they want for X-mas & buying everone else we buy for she we run low. No biggie for me but she likes to spend 1/2 on me
Ask alot of questions & make sure the seller has good contact info & see what kind of guarantee they give you on the bike if you get there and it's not what they say it is.

I've bought two Harleys on E-Bay, and sold 1 Harley, 1 Triumph rocket, one 21' boat, and one 30' camper. The ONLY way I would buy anything of that significance off e-bay is to make live contact with the seller and go inspect the bike before serious bidding. You can inspect the bike first, possibly cut a deal right there to buy the bike, or just follow through with the bidding process. This is my recommendation for a private sale on E-Bay...a dealer sale would be different, and if the dealer is reputable, I'd consider buying the bike sight unseen. Hope this info helps.

05 Heritage Classic, 4700 miles, still with factory warranty. Bike was 1.5 years old. Off of Ebay for a fair price. Sold it to a buddy for a fair price, got the 06 Street Glide off Craigslist; still under extended factory warranty. Good deals to be found out there.

Somewhat related. I have sold three bikes on Ebay. All buyers are very happy. One gave me $50.00 for gas (unexpectedly), Two has turned into a friend, Three paid me for the bike and picked it way later. All around, everyone is happy.

Lets see, let me count them... Yep, I've bought 6 off of eBay... Hard to pass up a good deal...
Do your homework before you buy...
Contact the seller and get all the detail information you can...
Ask for extra pictures...
Calculate pickup costs, registration and taxes before you buy...
Made sure he will pick you up at the airport...
I had 1 shipped...
I've drove out and picked up 2, about 500 miles from home.
I've flown out and rode home 3, the first 600 miles, the second 2,600 miles the other 3,200 miles from home.

I would buy one off ebay and we almost did actually but it was too much hassle to import. Ebay, in my eyes can be a GREAT way to save money..be it for MC: clothes bikes or parts to kitchen sinks hehe.
The only thing I would do is go there in person and check over everything twice!! Some people don't and hey..that's ok but I would feel better if I could look it over etc.

I bought mine off of ebay and it's been quite the experience so far. Normally I wouldn't have but when I saw it I had to have it. It's supposed to finally show up here in about an hour. Hopefully it will all have been worth it.
