Would you buy a used Harley off of eBay?

Used Harley's
Do your homework. If the owner is honest he or she should not have an issue with disclosing all service records and if they are the original owner where the bike was purchased from. I just bought a harley and the gentleman gave me the vin# so I could call the selling dealer and get the service history. This is just one way to see if the seller is being honest. I am in the process of selling my bike and not only have I disclosed all of the service records to potential buyers, I encourage them to contact the dealer who has serviced the bike since new.
Just be careful and I cannot stress as others have to be adament and get as much information as you can. Most of the people I know who have bikes keep every document that related to their bike and would not hesitate to share if and when they are ready to sell.

I bought my Low Rider off of ebay and the seller was very straight forward and decent. He also had perfect feedback. I haven't had a lick of trouble with the bike. I sell parts and stuff on ebay from time to time. I have perfect feedback and allways answer questions. Buying any used vehicle is a bit of a gamble, but like these guys have said over and over, do your research, talk to the guys and take advantage of all the services to help you buy as possible.

There is always the possibility some HD forum member might offer to go check out a bike for you. I can't speak for anyone else, but if you find something you're interested in checking out in the Chicago area, I'll go take a look at it for you and let you know what I think.

That my friend Was the easy part , I hired a broker.
It only cost me a couple hundred bucks, they took care of customs for me
Even got it here with a small box of parts that were included in the sale
The hard part was the wait, paper work I made a mistake needed not only the title but also a bill of sale.
The seller sent me title , postal service sent it slow as heck.
So the seller aplyed for a new title, omg did you know the new one voids the old one ?
menwhile the old ones in my hand lmao...
Just do your homework
I LOVE my bike, I just dont like the seller

Hey, that's really good and generous of some of you guys offering to go have a look at a bike on my or another forumite's behalf. That certainly would help quell some of the fears of buying a bike under these circumstances.
And also buying from other guys who are well known on this forum would be another option too.
I must admit that getting a broker might not be a bad idea in my case since I'm not all that bright when it comes to trying to get my head around all the BS and paperwork and anything else that you need to get a bike into Canada from the USA without screwing something up. That would just add more stress and worry to the whole experience. I'd gladly pay a middleman a couple of hundred bucks to insure a pain-free experience without screw-ups.

I purchased my Wide Glide on ebay 2 weeks ago, less than 2000 miles for $7700. Make sure you buy from someone locally, not just to save on the hassle and expense of shipping, but so that you can set up a time to check it out in person before you bid.

I bought mine off ebay in Oct. It was about 350 miles away. I won the auction and told the guy as long as everything is as you say I will take it. He was cool with that, no pressure. I didn't want to do the shipping thing.

I would never buy a used bike without seeing it and riding it first.
I live in Canada and bought my bike off Ebay. I had a nearby friend go see the bike to check it out and ride it - he said it was mint and ran perfectly. I waited for the auction to end (no offers) and then sent the seller an email offering him $1000 less than his reserve price. He accepted and I flew to NYC for the weekend, then went to Foxwoods casino for a day, then hopped on a ferry to Long Island and took the bike for a 3 hour test drive. It was one the best four days of my life!
Find a bike on Ebay or craigslist and then post a message in these forums offering someone $100 to go see and test the bike for you. You will save at least $1000 compared to buying a bike in Canada.
