Sometimes I wear a Honda t-shirt while riding my fatboy. You should
see the confused looks I get.
I seldom wear a vest.....and there may be a pin or twelve...no patches.

Guess I'm a BIG A$$ dork. I not only have some patches on my vest, but soemtimes too many pins to remember. I'm 55, a Viet vet, started riding in 1965, first Sturgis, 1972. I ride a hardtail kicker panhead and I just started another tribute bike, a 78 FLH, going with the POW-MIA theme on it. I have "In memory" patches on my vest. Reminds me of the great times and friendship I enjoyed in their company, and I know they would want to go along on the ride. I hae flags on my vests. I just looked, and there are 19 pins on one vest and 14 on the other. I can tell you where each and everyone came from. The big "U.S" inbrass was on my Dad's uniform in WW2. He rode Harleys in the 30's. The ruby and diamond crosswas given to me by my aunt when I left for the Navy in 1970, and it's been to China, Nam, Russia, under the polar ice cap, and in all 50 staes and 4 Canadian provinces. The HD crossed flags pin was given to me by Nancy, TJ's wife. Hedied from agent orange leftovers. I wear my submarine dolphins. My first Sturgis pin was given to me by Lowell of Manhattan, Ks. Killed by a cager in 1973 on his way back homefrom Sturgis. Need I say more. They are an absolute joy to wear, and whenI talk about them, it always brings back memories of days and rides gone by. NOW, if you choose not to wear dork gear, that is a ok with this ol' geezr. I guess if you choosr to ride anything newer than a shovelhead, you too could be a dork in some circles. I am really careful what pinheads I call pinheads. As far as Shriners go, I guess I have to plead guilty and say I'd rather be a dork like them, too. Nuff said. D.O.G. GUMBY

Post like this one make me proud to be a biker and associated with such fine people that enjoy riding motorcycles like I do. What is normal? Wearing patches are dorkie? Wearing a patch over your eyeis cool? (yes it is in my humble oppinion hahaa) Etc Etc and what ever. As a whole I have noticed that we all except each other in a positive way even though we are different. We dont except people calling one of us names because we are different. Thats what I love about my brother bikers.

Where's the parrot?!?

I don't wear any patches but I think the poeple that do are expressing a sense of pride and accomplishment. More power to them.
