I have that "how to" in my wallet, just in case and I carry a spare battery with me. I read that some changes theirs every year. Not a bad idea.

Changing the battery is not a bad idea.

But the most important thing anybody can do, is learn how to start your bike with the over ride code.
Reading the instructions and trying to start your bike when your already frustrated would not be fun.

The instructions seem a little hard to understand at first glance, but once your practice it a few times, it is really simple.

The other thing you need to do is CHANGE the default code the dealer set.
If you don't do that, your bikes code will be the same as every other bike that dealer sold.
