RE: back to the service charges
My local dealer charges whatever the book says the time will take...ev en if two or three parts overlap in real time. For instance,They put handlebars, and new cables on my wifes Deluxe, each cable was listed in the book at 3/4 of an hour, the bars at 1.5 hours, and the grips at .5 hours. Actual time the mechanic spent on the bike...1 hour. Cost...5 hours at 75.00 per hour...
I now take my bikes to a friend for anything I can't do myself, he charges me a fair rate of 50.00 per hour...actual hours worked. I only take them to the dealer for warrenty work, and my pre-paid service agreement on my Ultra...Heck, they lose money on that one...Bike is 18 months old, and I have had service done every 2,500 miles...I now have almost 30,000 onm the bike4, so thats 12 services at anywhere from 250-560 per...I paid 1800 for the three year plan...LOLOL I get my monies worth
