Matching rpm's has got nothing to do with it, you can shift into the next gear by simply backing off the gas to unload the trans and take another gear. Truckers don't rpm match to the extent they'll only shift clutchless at certain rpms.
It will just grind. They teach you that in truck driving school.
I passed bythis thread because I thought it was stupid. Then I cam back and read it.... I was right the first time.

the sliding clutch and gear takes a beating in Eaton and Meritor transmissions and it is
not covered by warranty either. Just like on trucks, by pulling the top cover on trans the abuse of not using the clutch is easy to see, on Harleys it is esy to see by the wear on the drum.
I use my clutch, it works really smooth and I keep my cable lubed. That is just me though.

Can drive a cage all day only using the clutch to leave, never even thought of shifting the bike clutchless, I don't think I take my fingers off the clutch except in 5th and cruising, I think its a control thing

Motorcycles, metric or Harley, will last longer and with fewer problems if you treat them better.

I have a Streetglide so I use the clutch 99% of the time. When I'm feeling crazy and want to get on it I don't. I don't think you are hurting anything by not using the clutch. I never use it when I'm driving my 18 wheeler except to start off.
