I read one of these threads sometime back, with about the same results.

I found out that a lot of people don't have a clue...

+1. Most riders really should educate themselves before offering advice.

ok light up the flames ..
yes I do shift with out the clutch - not all the time but sometimes it hurts NOTHING if done properly.
I also shift my ford f150 the same way on occasion also my old iron head..
I have been doing it this way since high school and I just went to my 50th reunion last summer.
racing dirt street or just cruising it hurts nothing if done PROPERLY...

Works good near the rev limiter. Just let off the throttle for a split second and go!
My bike almost sounds like an automatic when I do it that way.

To clarify, I tried it that way a dozen times, and it worked. But I don't do it regularly.
I just had to "speriment" to see if "they" were right. And they were. It works.

Going into neutral ain't shifting. It's "going into neutral".

Matching rpm's to the gear you are going into, the trans will indeed shift without clutch. Good practice? Likely not. But it does work. Takes some learning to know how to do it properly.

Ask any trucker. Three grand to replace a clutch, millions of miles driven. See the incentive????

Truck driving school teaches you how to shift without the clutch. It's for real!

Matching rpm's has got nothing to do with it, you can shift into the next gear by simply backing off the gas to unload the trans and take another gear. Truckers don't rpm match to the extent they'll only shift clutchless at certain rpms. Just have to be insync with whats going on with the motor and load placed on the tranny. And I shift into neutral without the clutch all the time. Just have to know what you're doing.
