I'm not a lawyer, but stealing the bike wouldn't be justifiable for shooting them, however the part where they try to run you over might. It works for the police when someone tries to run them down.

 

I'd elect not to use lethal force as much as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to waste them if it was Grand Theft Auto, but in real life, you'll have to weigh the consequences and take a quick but careful look at the scenario.

My experience with the video game Splinter Cell as well as accounts of confronting thieves and scofflaws influenced me to adopt a minimal-casualties approach.

Trying to run the owner over with a van would be Disparity of Force. Should be a legal shoot in most states.

 

You can in Texas but I'd have them put the jiffy stand down first.

 

Beat the friggin crap outta them the lay the bike over on em until the cops get there... musta knocked it over on themself...hmmmmm!

 

I gotta gun and a shovel and I don't think anybody'll miss ya, help yourself.

 

If you shoot them, I'll swear I heard them threatening to kill you.

"Just read an article where one brother came upon some A$$holes that had loaded up his bike and was driving away, he was stunned and all he had time to do was stand in front of the van. Yelling at them he had to jump out of the way to keep from being run over..."........That's assault with a deadly weapon and justifies shooting to protect yourself. That's my rule, so anyone wanting to steal my bike knows what you are in for.
