Default Help with Custom Frame made by Hog Wild Performance

My borther purchased a softail custom sportster frame at a swap meet last season. The frame was made fomr a company called Hog Wild Performance our of CA, but they are out of business. We are starting to mock up the bike and seem to be having some issues with how the engine mounts and such.

I ahve searched the net for this company and any info on the frame, but no luck. I have also searched forums to see if someone has done a build with one, but still no luck. I saw a frame like it on ebay, but the guy was not sure of the maker.

We can start cutting and welding, but wanted to see if we were just missing sometihng. Pic of the frame below, let me know if you have nay info at all.

That frame might have been built with a specific engine in mind. Who knows, it might have been built to fit a 45 flat or a pan. You need to make a template of the bolt pattern & go find a hog wrench that might have some cases that you can compare the pattern to.
Or you set the engine of your choice into the frame & start fabbing your own mounting hardware into it. You dont rush that part. **** has to be able to line up dead on from your rear wheel right up to the primary! It isnt hard to do but you have to take your time & get it right!
Make sure who ever welds to the frame has some time in the welding industry!
Keep us posted.

It is a sportster frame and appears to be the right year. The issue is getting it mounted with the formed oil tank.

Is the exhaust hitting or the rear cylinder?

If the barrel is touching, you need to make a fair amount of room because the exhaust is going to take up another 3 or 4 inches to get the clearance you need to bolt it in. The oil tank was most likely not mounted by the same people that built the frame. If it was real close to fitting you could peen the tank to allow room but I think in this case you will have to re design the oil tank.
Pull it out of the frame, mount your engine & tranny complete with starter.
Than measure the room that you have to work with & see if you cant just re shape the oil tank. Keep in mind the oil volume that is needed!

I hope you get everything worked out with that frame, it's going to look badass when it's done!

Guys,

thanks for the feedback. We are working through it. My brother and I just helped my dad mount his weld on hardtail kit . Gotta love winter downtime...lol
