and the bike still start and run without the security system activated?
The instruction booklet assumes that the security system will be immediately programmed upon installation.
Right now I'm a little intimidated by these instructions and I can't afford to pay the dealer to do it right now. Maybe I should just wait.

Is it one of the new ones with the automatic arming? If so I think that HAS to be done by the stealer. If its one of the older ones that you push the button to arm/disarm you can easily do it yourself. The confusing part for me was setting the PIN code with the flashers. You do not HAVE to do that but if you don't and your battery dies or your in an area with to much radio interference your out of luck.
I'll see if i can find the manual for it to refresh my memory.

It is not the new type that has automatic arming option. I'm talking about only mounting the security system and not doing anything with the programming. Will it still start and run?
Step No. 3 in the instructions says something about "Perform the test described under TSM/TSSM VEHICLE DELIVERY in the Electrical Diagnostic Manual.

When you change from TSM to TSSM, you MUST do the "Password Learn" procedure.....
The modules have to be synched (ECM, TS/SM, Speedo and Tach if applicable).....

You may want to put the battery tender on the bike and or a battey charger. I almost killed my battery with the alarm install on mine!
It takes a little while just to get the hang of it, and then to go through each step takes over a half hour total, but can be done at home and you will save the $$$ at the dealer when your done.
