Default Now here's a freak accident --Don't try this at home.

I hate when this happens: I was out in my garage intending to put some stock handle bars from my Ultra in the attic above the garage's 12 foot ceiling to store. I have my extension aluminum ladder aiming upward and as I've done numerous times I am pushing the ladder into the opening to the attic in the attempt of gently lifting the rectangular piece of plywood trap door out of the way so that I can enter the opening. Well the plywood didn't cooperate and before I could react the piece fell down and struck me in my right ear causing a gash requiring a trip for sutures. Thankfully, one of my best buddies is a surgeon and I could circumvent the ER. Boy did I feel like a horses ***!! Thankfully my ear is still there and the plywood hit me not my Ultra!! After my ear repair, I rigged a couple of support straps to keep the plywood from falling again. Remember, what ever you do, Do Not Try this at home, unless you're a trained stunt man.

I love my bike as much as the next guy. Well, apparently unless the next guy is you. But given the choice between a trip to a surgeon or a trip to the auto body shop... I'll take the body shop.

Get well! And thanks for sharing the story. I have the same arrangement in my garage. I'll be more careful now.

Now go out, wrap your arms around your bike, and apologize to it for giving it such a scare!
