I've got several pair of "lineman's" boots, some in the 16" black all leather version (can't wear with the new uniform). Used to wear them racing motocross back in my young (read: too poor to buy real MX boots) days.

Just got a pair of these (for work, I climb antennas for a living in the USAF):

Bought some Timberland boots just for the bike a few days ago:


I've never been a fan of boots with a zipper, even though most of them have laces to set the tightness.

I also have a pair of Sage Green, steel toe, Goretex lined, Bellvilles like the black ones earlier in this thread:

Model: 650ST (IIRC...) very comfortable.

Thanks for all the great advice. I think I have my work cut out. I'm going to try on as many of the suggested boots that are available in my area, and pick them that way. I appreciate all of the great advice.

I would think it would be a good idea to talk to a Doctor about what would be a better choice.

I will definitely be running it by the physical therapy people over the next few weeks.
