I didn't worry about hotel rates. I roughed it! Packed a one man tent, sleeping bag and stayed at Katherine's Landing Lake Mohave Space #7
Took the pick below at a rest area just outside Wickenburg AZ

Single site Camping
Site capacity maximum is eight persons, four tents and two motorized vehicles (e.g., one camping unit and a towed vehicle) per site. Four motorcycles may occupy a site.
Campground fees are $10 per site plus $5 vehicle park entrance. Made it $10 a day each for my buddy and myself.

On the Arizona side just 8 miles from Laughlin.
This is a desert area even though it's on the river bring shade if ya need it. Last year we had 90 degree days! I didn't worry about shade, left camp early before the heat and returned in the afternoon after it started to cool.

That looks like an awesome spot! Thanks for the heads up!

It first started in 1983. I still remember the mud field we had to park the bikes at the Riverside.

I was there too. Do you remember the dirt outside the Riverside where we had to park?

I haven't gone in many years. Used to alternate between it and the NSRA Western Nats in Bakersfield on the same weekend. For the last ten years or so I've been doing the Desert Storm Poker Run on Lake Havasu with my boat.

I sold my '34 Ford and the boat thing will cost me over $1K for the weekend so I'm thinking about doing the river run again. I still own a house in Vegas (Henderson) so will probably just stay there and ride down each day. It's only a little over an hour drive from Henderson.

Is there going to be a HD Forum meetup somewhere? Maybe get together and go for a ride?

Laughlin trivia:
When the run started in 1983, there was only the Riverside Casino. Edgewater might have been under construction.
There was no residential zoned property on the Nevada side of the river. Everyone that worked in Laughlin lived on the Arizona side, so Laughlin used Arizona time zone, or Bullhead City used Nevada time, don't remember which.
There was no bridge, so you had to go up and cross at the Dam.
Also you could still by $10k lots on the river on the Arizona side.
There was no TV reception (one channel kinda fuzzy) and no cable TV.
There was only a 50-pair telephone cable running down the main drag, to feed the entire town.
When I first landed at the airport (Bullhead City) in 1974, there was no airplane gas. You had to taxi next door to the automobile gas station and they had an avgas pump.

Hard to believe it has grown to the size it is today.
