I've built a couple of Harleys from **** people had laying around... 95 precent of which was given to me from friends, friends of friends and people who knew people who had this or that... my cost was actually near nothing...

I don't know or think people would do that anymore... everyone has something for sale these days...

Though I don't have much in the way of spare parts anymore... I do give away **** that I have put on and decided I didn't like... I try to keep up the old ways and try to keep a rider riding if I can...

I've seen a many of harleys come back from the grave over the years...

Except for fire, you would be hard pressed to find any old Harley that someone wouldnt want ....

 

My first bike, '50 Indian, was a mongrel....
Had been put together by one of the older 'punks' in our town...
Now it was mine!.......brutal piece of iron...

Buddies were riding by on their 'Honda 305 Dreams'...girl on the back...
Me, on the side of the road in a pool of oil, dirty clothes, becoming a 'punk' too....

Seeing an Indian motorcycle still gives me a knot in the gut....
All this was in 1964

Wonder if someone else 'saved' the mongrel...

 

In all my years I have never ever seen some person giving up on a Harley,even the insurance companies sell them at salvage auctions and some one always buys them !
