+1 on Sierra Designs for the tent. I'm still using the one I bought almost 20 years ago. Best money I've ever spent.

I am a huge fan of REI camping gear. I tend to buy the REI store brand. Good price and high quality.
The quarter dome T3 tent. I would recommend getting the three person for room.
But like others have said stay away from gear from walmart, kmart, or target. The tents are very likely to leak. Which means if it rains you and your stuff will get wet.
Go for light backpacking gear for your bike. Whatever you do get a thermarest, air mattress or the like. If you sleep in a tent just in a bag all your body heat will get pulled into the ground. The result is that you end up really cold and uncomfortable.

But that area is prone to hail. You might want to go on you tube and look up some of the vids of the storm. Had you been in a tent during it you would be hurting pretty bad.

Evil I love the signature pic of your bike. I love B/W photos and that makes your bike pop.

When I go on a trip like to sturgis were it is a one to two day ride for me to get there
but I will be staying at the location for a week once there, I send most of my equipment on ahead of me via UPS this allows for me to pack the bike lighter and have more items at the camp site. I use two big coleman coolers for shipping and can
fit a bigger (4 man ) tent doing this allowing more options. It also makes the wife happier having more of her needed items along !

The blow up pool floatie is a great idea. I recently purchased an Oregon Bedroll, but I haven't received it yet. I have read good things about it.

As for a tent, buy a good one. The storms in Sturgis (with and without hail) can be brutal. If the place your camping at has some trees pitch your tent next to one and tie it off to the tree.

Also get some boot/shoe covers...if you know someone who works in the hospital they can get those...of local medical supply store...put them on when you go in the tent keeps dirt off the floor....

+++++1 on the stand up part....you want to be able to stand up....

+++++1 quality.... makes a difference... i went 2 years ago to Blue ridge motorcycle campground, i was in a cabin...I use a CPAP machine so i stay away from camping..Everybody else had tents.... i could tell the ones that had crappy vs quality products the next morning when it had rained....

Default try this site

http://cascadedesigns.com/MSR

The MSR Carbon Reflex 1 Tent only weighs 2lbs 10oz and compacts down to a 6 by 20 inches for carrying which is a plus. But at $449, you could stay in a hotel for 4 to 11 days, depending on your tastes.
