Default What's a fair price?

Buddy of mine and I went to a local dealer today to look around, he's in the market for a Road King. Dealer has a super clean used '09. Bone stock except for quick release docking hardware. It's a vivid black Shrine bike. REALLY clean, looks brand new but it has 11,000 miles on it. 10K service is done and it has a new rear tire. Dealer is asking $16,500 but says he'll deal. I'm thinking maybe $15,000 is more in line with where it should be. What do you guys think?

not sure what a Shrine bike is..... or worth, but the msrp for a 2010 RK is $16,999. sounds like the dealer isn't discounting a year old bike very much.

KBB has it for 16,5, the stealer is waaay too high if he wants to unload it. In my mind thats no deal at all unless he gives a really good warranty.

Do your home work... check out Kelly Blue Book, and NADA price guides.
Factor in the "wow" factor
Factor in your resouces

The sap who traded the bike in, may nave owed more than the bike was valued. Figure out what YOU want to pay for it, give the sales man YOUR quote, and be ready to walk.
Have all your finances ready for the deal.

maybe start offering less, than you'll go, or making a total package
Bike
Warranty
service(?)

So, losing $4,000 for 1 year of ownership sounds like a wise way to spend your money to you guys?.,,

And, the dealer I bought my SG from is selling at $1000.00 off MSRP no freight or setup right now so you could get a NEW one for $15,999.00. Shriner, Peace Officer and Fire Fighter special editions are sold at a nice discount under the prices a dealer will sell a regular bike for because the specials do not count against their allotment. It is likely the original purchaser paid $15,000 for it new so I think you have a LOT of room to go from there.

Yep, I did some more digging for him and found that he could buy a new POSE Road King for $15,800 out the door. So $16,500 for the used one was NOT a good deal. That said, he just told me he's going with a 2010 Street Glide and should be making the deal later this afternoon. Thanks for the input guys!
