how about, you shouldn't ride a motorcycle if you think $5,000, a bunch of plastic, and a neon green leather suit makes you a biker.

that's not a flame at all sportbike riders, just dumbshit 18-22 year olds who think blowing their graduation money on leathers and a kawasaki makes them a biker.

How about $6k for the bike, another 6K in parts (and some labor For what I didn't have the tools or know how to do), and 15K miles? (this time around)

I think although "cute" that saying is misleading. I think being a biker is measured by your state of mind, and how you conduct yourself.
I also think that the folks that try and judge who is and isn't a biker are insecure about whether or not they are.

You spend more time typing comments into a computer than you do riding or wrenching (winters excluded for us Northern folk!)

How about this thread is kinda useless considering most people join this forum AFTER the purchase a bike...

But that being said, you shouldnt ride a bike if...

...you dont know where the starter thingy is.

...you need to ask where the coolant goes.

...you have a habit of saying rubber side up.

...your weekly ride consists of going to your local HD dealer for more apparrel...

I guess I will never be a biker then.. I will be the first to admit that I will be unlikely to change the oil on the bike. I do however ride the damn thing which is why I got it.. That said I have a very think skin and judge my own skills and abilities rather than worry about what anyone else thinks about me.
