I went in to the dealer one day to cuss 'em out about some work they had done on my bike. I walked out with $130.00 pair of boots!

When I go to the dealer, it's usually to buy something.

I quit just hanging out there after they quit giving away free hotdogs.

With the winters we have in Iowa , I just feel the need! Not with the intention to buy, but to just get in the atmosphere I guess!!

That phase will pass... When I first got my bike, I was like a kid in a candy store whenever I went to the dealer - which was every week or two. But after 3 years, that's over. The only time I go to a dealer now is when I need a genuine H-D part that I haven't had the foresight to order on the internet from a discounter - like a gasket or something. I stopped buying H-D accessories at a dealer long ago - I can get almost H-D part or accessory on the internet for 20% off and no tax! Why would I pay full retail with 8% tax? And, I have put a lot more non H-D stuff on my bike than I have H-D stuff!

Have to agree that it is getting hard to buy anything at the local dealership knowing that you can order it online for 20% less and in most cases no sales tax... I would prefer to buy locally but with the cost of H-D parts, that 20% adds up fast...

I'm with NGH, although my 'bank roll' has made me come to the same conclusion much sooner. Every time I enter a Harley dealership, I'm reminded of that old saying... "Pretty lures aren't made to catch fish. They're made to catch fishermen."

Maybe we'll have to adapt that to the chrome madness? Or, is that "Chrome's Disease?"

I think its the girls at the door that when U walk out with a bag of goodies that let U touch, feel, and then kiss U bye....
Oppps, wrong place......

Naw, it really depends on what I stop for... either a look-see or need something...and Yes sometimes the Look-sees cost the more of the two...
