leather -vs- textile

I've changed from Leather ( hein gerrick sp?) to Tourmaster textile. I own two Tourmaster models. The Transition2 , that I use for cool to cold weather and the Intake for warm to hot weather. Both jackets are like a 3 in 1 as they have a nylon and quilted liners . I'm sold on both these jackets.

I crashed in armoured textile (hit a deer, I was on a crotch rocket...) and was riding again in 48hrs...have both leather (Belstaff Montana) and textile (FXRG) and the leather is nicer when it's cold but the textile is more versatile as far as changing weather.

I have a variety of jackets, but end up wearing my textile jacket most of the time. It's just more versatile. I have my H-D "Switchback" jacket for almost 4 years. It has several layers--the base is a mesh jacket. It has panels that zip over and cover the mesh, and then there is a rain-proof liner as well, so this jacket is good in temps ranging from 30 to 100 degrees (as long as you're moving). Ive never found a leather jacket that has that kind of versatility.

The Tourmaster Transition 3/4 length is the best I've found. It's got a lining as comfortable as a sleeping bag and I wear it from Warm weather conditions to below freezing in combination with the Harley heated jacket liner. I keep a Jammin leather button up leather shirt as a lightweight jacket rolled up in my one saddlebag. I couldn't tell you the last time I wore my old heavy leather jacket. Nothing feels as shitty as having to put on a cold wet leather jacket after you leave a restaurant when you are already freezing from riding in the rain.

I have a great jacket that is made out of carbonflex. Which is 90% the abrasion resistance of leather. It also breathes and has a waterprooof/breathable liner. It is also flexible. There is armor at elbow, shoulder and back. It was recommended to me by monstead on this site. Best jacket I tried on. I also have sassy textile pants but they don't have a guys verison.

I like a light leather jacket for local cruising but I found a Dri-Duck waterproof insulated hoody like a Carhart that is the cat's azz for chilly and wet unkind weather. That hood is a nice feature either over my head or just way comfortable than any of the 4 or 5 leather or textile coats I own drawn tight around my neck.I may not look cool but it is comfy.
