Another vote for ACC carbon fiber DOT. I have had mine for a year and love it, it will be the only helmet I will own now. If you contact them to buy mention HD Forums and you will get a 10% discount.

If you want a 3/4 helmet, Biltwells are the way to go. They fit low and snug.
(I liked them so much, that I became a distributor).

If you are buying a helmet for protection and comfort and have $200+ to spend, get a good quality , well vented, 2010 snell approved, full face helmet and perhaps an optional tinted visior for sunny days.

Remember that 40%+ head impacts in an accident are to the chin, nose and eyes (quoting from the book Proficient Motorcycling, which quotes from a number of studies). According to most studies a DOT approved half helmet will shield you from about 1/2 of the head impacts a full face helmet will in a crash and a 3/4 is somewhere between a 1/2 helmet and a FF helmet in the protection it offers.

If I sound a little biased I am, I've done a face plant at 60mph and slid/tumbled 200ft. I would be dead or severely disfigured if I was only wearing a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet. Because of the helmet and gear I was wearing I was able to survive with only a severe concusion, fractures to my shoulder and collar bone and no abrasion injuries.
Good reply and right one... Hope you dont get flamed for your truth telling.

But to each his own.

If you want a hh, go to carbonfiberhelmets.com They are DOT and will definitely give you the least mushroom look. They are expensive but look good. These are true carbon fiber. Some say it but are not really carbon fiber. They advertise them in AI magazine.

this is a good string. i wear a helmet for protection - i'm not required to by law in my state.
i'm still looking for the helmet that fits my tall-skinny head without looking goofy...
in the meantime, i just remind myself that its hard to look dumb on a harley - providing you know how to ride and aren't skiddin' on yer lid.

Yes it is if you want a mushroom head.^^^ All DOT are big period! The only reason a ACC/Headtrip looks decent is because it's flater and not as round on the front/sides. But its still big.

And yes i own or owned a ACC, Daytona, Fulmer and several others. As i was looken for a small lid also. Never could find a small DOT so now i wear non-DOT...i like them Biltwell's

If you want a small lid grab a non-DOT.

Davida is leather lined, doesn't that stink after sweating in it so much, kinda like a leather band on a watch? Is it comfy, because I noticed it has that lining from my old military kevlar and that **** hurt or didn't feel too good after a long march.

If you want the shroom look then go for the Skid Lid. Ordered a HCI & a Skid Lid the SL made me look like the dude from Space *****. HCI was the lesser of the two evils. Want to check out ACC.
