Default HOG Membership

I just went to renew my HOG membership online and discovered the cost has gone up by about 20% to £53 this year so I didn't do it.

I used the money I saved to pay for a ferry ticket to take my campervan over to Holland for two weeks this Easter.

Does anybody know where all this money goes to, I certainly don't.

They don't organize a single rally or a single event in the UK. The only events are organised by various chapters so what do the UK HOG actually do?

Can anybody enlighten me as to what I get for my money apart from a load of insurance advertising?

Does anybody else think that it's all a bit of a scam?

Over here in the colonies it may make more sense, as they do organize rallies, have the towing benefit, the magazine is pretty good and a discount ocasionally at a dealer or two. Other than that it helps me keep my sales resistance up not buying everything they advertise.

I just did a quick conversion to USD, and that 53 GBP is $86 and change. That's a lot for just being a HOG and little benefits. Maybe this is Harley's bail out strategy.

Get decent towing from my MC insurance provider. No need to go with HOG anymore, especially now that I have the GPS loaded with all the HD locations.

I've been a life member for over 20 years. I doubt that I would even join for a year at a time if I were just starting out now though. It seems to me that H O G has kinda run its course................. Maybe not!
