Like other things, it is all relative. I belong to a very active chapter and great members. I work in an arena that hosts sports events and concerts. Many people there would not pay the dues to for HOG membership but put down $7.50 for a beer and more for a mixed drink, something I would refuse to pay. If you don't think a HOG membership is not worth the price don't pay it. If you do then pay it. It's not astrophysics.

It's a question of what do you get for your money $45, National Hog- O , local hog you pay yearly dues $25 per year, then are expected to work for the club [dealer] and in the end Harley takes the credit for everything ,money raised, or donations. When the dealer has an open house we are expected to help cook , cleanup, and provide security. All to make the dealer and Harley look good. The rides we do are getting lame and old. Not to mention the clic's. If your not in why bother coming to events ?.

I was a HOG member, until the one year free membership I got with my bike expired. The only value in HOG to me was the roadside assistance program.

I don't mind paying out money providing I get something in return.

It may be worth joining in the US. Over here we pay a lot more and get nothing but 4 advertising brochures and a couple of cheap badges each year.
$7.50 for a beer? Is that normal? I thought the beer in this country was expensive. I pay £2.40 for a pint of best in my local pub. That works out at about $3.40.

Been a life member for about 18 years, not sure if I would renew every year. Everything is dependant on how active the local members are and if the dealer in involved. We have friends all over the country because of HOG. But it is not for everyone.

Sounds like it is much more active in the U.S. that overseas.

Had my Life membership for years now. I do like the map. I carry it while traveling. Like to stop in to various dealers while on the road, you never know what you will find.

We stopped in one in Nashville last year and found that they had an excellent diner inside to eat in. While eating we met a lot of nice people who gave us a lot of great riding routes while there.

I've looked into buying a life membership but they cost $845.40 here in the UK. I can very easily live without it so I won't bother.

I've been a life member for over 20 years. I think I paid $135.00 after being a member for 3-5 years at about $30.

I like the maps and few of the other things. Of corse it's all free to me now. What's not to like.
