chrome front forks

#46371-08 which is the chrome front end for ABS Touring models 2008 and up (my case) is sold by HD of New Rochelle for $355.48 on eBay. This includes sliders, cowbells, axle nuts and nut covers.
MSRP is $446.95.
A local chromer with great reputation can (triple) chrome my whole front end for $220 which is cheaper, but if I can sell my stock front end, buying a HD chrome kit could be a better deal financially speaking.
Is there any demand for a stock front end, and if there is, how much do they sell for?

Chrome lowers...
I've found them through HD for 299.00...It's the installation that's a killer...minimum of 4 hours!!! I looked at a place at the last rally that did it, but they wanted the lowers and then wanted $800 bones too! Not gonna happen!

thanks guys for the input... yea i called today and they said 160 a piece for the lower legs but then i thought about all the other stuff like my beer cans and axle covers so i think i may just hold out and search ebay or just bite that bullet and buy the whole kit from hd

I talked to a local guy who only does show quality stuff. He wanted $300 per leg.
Found chrome lowers on eBay for like $60. They have some flaws (stated in the ad)... but it's a daily driver. I just wanted, shiny, not perfect.

I bought a set for my Sportster about 3 1/2 years ago and they still look brand new... $299... 30 thousand miles on them in all kinds of weather...
It was not all that much trouble changing them out, even with putting the bushings and seals in the new ones...

I got a complete black set for my RG, and as soon as my progressive cartridge kit arrives I'll be installing everything myself. I figured I may as well upgrade the forks while I have them apart, and the hell with paying a shop to do something I would just have to check over when I got it home to make sure everything was tightened properly to begin with.
Working on a bike isnt rocket science and I just cant see how the shops can think they are worth $70 an hour for what they do.

You could always just "polish" them. Depending on how good of a job you do, a little elbow grease, buffing compound & wheel, and they'll look just as good a chrome.

as far as I am concerned, having your stock forks chromed by a GOOD chromer is both cheaper and a better job than the MoCo's kit. I sent mine to Chromemasters in Nashville and was very happy with the results. I did the labor myself as well to keep the cost as low as possible. it wasn't a dificult job at all, if you search you can find step by step instructions.
