Black, The New Chrome- Fad or Here to stay?
40 yrs ago around here we polished our bike parts..
Some Chromed but motor ran hotter if done..
Then lots of the parts came chromed from MOCO
Now Black Powder or Ceramic is the latest mod.
So will it take over and is it here to stay for a long time? or go away.!
Or still have the choice between the two?
Or anyone take a guess on what the next metal coating they put on the parts will be,?? Brass, Gold, white, ETC,????

I have to get a new pickup every other year or so and I have only been able to get non-chrome trucks for about 10 years (sport model Dodge). Cars haven't had chrome since sometime waaay back in the late 20th century; guess some of us HD types are real traditional...looks good in moderation on a Harley. Fads will come and go.

I love the chrome on Harleys, kind of a trademark that everybody expects to see on one. But black can be beautiful if done right. The only concern I would have with black instead of chrome or over chrome is visibility. I'd think the cagers could see chrome way before black. Just my opinion.

Both black and chrome have been a staple color among Harley fans since way back. I'm totally flexible. The blacked out scoots look waaay wicked and the chromed out scoots are just sick. I also like a good mix of both.

I personally like chrome on my bike. Chrome has pretty much disappeared from the4 wheel market. I think it will hang around in the Harley culter cuz of the exposed engine. I do like some of the blacked out bikes, but with some shiney stuff. Mix it up, don't go overboard one way or the other IMHO.
