Default What to use for floorboard adhesive?

The Grip adhesive thread reminded me that I need to find an adhesive for my floorboard rubber inserts. I have nostalgia floorboards on my RK and need to reglue the inserts. Tried a couple of automotive adhesives aready but they don't work too well. They stick but the inserts tend to slide around in hot weather.

I saw a footpeg rubber repair kit sold by Harley and it comes with loctite 380 adhesive. http://www.adventurehd.com/webstore/...p?SKU=50168-95
The rubber on my footpegs came loose so I called some auto stores looking for that Loctite 380 and couldn't find it so I looked it up on the internet and found out it is basically superglue. I went to the store and found the closest thing I could find to it which was Permatex Dr. Bond superglue and bought it. I glued the rubber back on the peg and it seems to be holding up although in this cold weather I haven't been riding as much so I can't say if it for sure will hold.

You can get the Loctite 380 from Amazon here http://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Black-...sr=8-1-catcorr for $4.34
The Loctite Superglue Ultra Gel sounds almost identical to the Loctite 380 http://www.amazon.com/Henkel-1109181.../dp/B001F7C5T6 but it is $6.39 at Amazon

Don't know bout Urs, but mine have 4 little rubber **** that snap into the lower part of the floorboard, they are supposed to move a little, that helps with keeping the vibration down as it transfers to the feet. They are the nostalgia kind also.

Are you gluing the nipples back on or do you have aftermarket boards? Harley rider floorboards all use the nipple method.

I wouldn't recommend gluing your nipples to the floorboards.

However; if you don't have nipples then get some glue called "stick and seal" at Lowes. It is a poor man's Goop. Buy the small tube. Use it this way for best results:

Spread adhesive on both parts to be bonded.

Wait 30 seconds for some of the solvent to flash off.

Join the two parts together. Clamp if necessary (but should NOT be necessary). Full bond strength in 24 hours.

I use this junk on all kinds of weird gluing situations. It stays a little rubbery which in this application should work well.
