I lived in Socal all of my life until a couple of years ago when we moved to Texas. I agree with most of what JayDee says above but for me, I was done with it. I hated how crowded everything was. I hated the traffic. I hated the shitty houses that were $500k+, etc.

I miss some things about Socal. The mountains, the variety of things to do, the weather, etc. My wife would love to move back (and we may at some point) but even she'll admit that our quality of life is much better here in Texas. We can afford a nice house in a great area with excellent schools and still have money left over for fun and toys. It would be hard to give that up.

I was up there on Saturday. It was around 70* Stopped off at Pauma Casino and won $780 and got the hell out of there. Rode about 300 miles. The Hideout was still closed. I guess forever. Henshaw looks like it's drying up.

 

Yeah it was kinda strange weather today. You described it perfect.

 

If weather was the only consideration, I think every Harley owner on the planet would live in climates like L.A. Unfortunately, being a gun totin', EPA hatin', US lovin' citizen doesn't really fit in, in that political environment. (No flame here, I'm sure you love your country, I'm talking about the multitude of libs that live there) The tax structure there alone would drive a man out of the state, but ad in the liberal government, the Nancy Polosi's of the world, and it's just not the place for some of us. Glad someones lovin' though.... cause it's right nippy up this way.

 

We came up the backside on the 79 from Temecula later in the afternoon. It was cloudy, windy, and low 60's. The Hideout is going to be a Thai restaurant. Guess somebody thinks they need one up there. On the other hand, the cafe at Lake Henshaw has really good food, and cold beer.

 

Sorry, but the cost of good weather is way to high in California. I could not even imagine leaving Tennessee for LA or any other coastal city on the west or east coast.

Ahhhh, I remember it well. Spent six years living in the land of fruits and nuts. You couldn't pay me enough to go back.

Unfortunately, the Northwest and the Northeast are getting almost as bad and we don't have the nice weather. Arizona and Nevada are starting to look pretty good. Going down to Anthem, Arizona next week and Las Vegas the first week in March to take a look at getting a winter home. I'm retiring in June and it will be nice to be able to get away from the cold in the winter.
