I havent seen any sportster projects latley under 2 grand in my area. I missed out on one for 800 about 6 months ago.

If you look on craigs list , you can usually get one road worthy and running for around $2500. I could never understand why people take a bike apart then want to sell it ?.,,

Same thing in this area, if it's in a "basket" it's way over priced.

That's why I ended up with a newer running bike, it was actually cheaper than picking up a basket case.

I don't know. If it has a clean title, the frame can be actually worth something. I don't think the price is way too high. Just high"ish"
