Default Dealership freebee's

Had my bike stored at the local shop after a recent accident...i ended up buying the bike back from insurance and have since began putting it back together. The shop charged over 2500 to insurance for storage...i was not at fault so the other person paid the shot....just wondering your thoughts on trying to hit up the dealer for some goodies....is it worth a shot...anyone else out there try something like this

Since you were not the owner of the bike when it was stored, I don't think you will get very far. They charge to store the bike and earned their money. IMHO, they don't owe you anything. Good luck though

Right! But I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.

I saw a special on TV many years ago showing how the average person would commit insurance fraud without a second thought, even though it's a crime.

Here is the way I see it. The shop would have ended up with the bike if you never bought it, for a fraction of the price of what you bought it for. Since you bought it back, they lost money therefore jacked up the "storage" price and counting on making plenty of money off you for parts. it is what it is

Shop has zero say in your bike...its yours until you sign off ownership(if you keep it dmv is notified of rebuild status if not shes gonzo)....according to the shop owner if you let it go basically a flatbed comes and take it to auction...with that said what i was getting at is the local shop has punch cards for every 50bucks spent....usually give away some prints with a new bike purchase etc....just wondering if anyone was in a situation like mine....i'll add the shop is in no way upset they are not fixing my bike or own it....i have a pretty good relationship with them from my dirt bike and atv days tho i deal with another shop for my harley needs (friends own another dealership so i get my stuff at cost)

How long does it take to rack up $2500 in storage? At the very least they should buy the wreck an birthday cake.

Congrats on an original post. Surprised this wasn't about 1%ers, oil, or should you wear a bandanna

No harm in asking. Just don't expect anything. Never ask, never get sometimes.

No kidding ... how long was the bike in storage? What was the daily fee?
