i had the digital one. it lasted about a year than started telling me that the oil temp was 800 degrees. i think the only thing these do is make you worry about your oil temp. if you do get one go with the analog one. when it dies you will only be out $29 bucks instead of a $145

I just put my hand on the oil tank. If it's hot, it's good to go. If it's cold, something is wrong

I have the analog one ... the only drawback is that I think I am cooking a roast or turkey every time I look at it. It reminds me of one of those cooking temperature gauges that you stick in your meat.

HD version: unreliable, inaccurate, unreadable oil mark on the dipstick itself, but let me tell you what I really think ...

I have a digital one. No more burned knuckles when I pull out that old dipstick. No more oil drip burn's on my exhaust. Mine work's fine. It's chrome and nothing wrong with more chrome.

I have the old style, like the dial on a meat thermometer. I use it a lot, nice to be able to tell what is going on at a glance.

If I want to know my oil temp I'll just use the one my wife sticks in the turkey. The price is right, hasn't broken yet and the turkey tastes delicious!
