According to the GA DDS the class "R" restriction was in place as late as 2005. http://www.dds.ga.gov/drivers/DLdata...45149218&ty=dl
When I got my license in '65 the test consisted of the GSP trooper asking one question: "You ride that thing here, boy?"

Australia has graduated licensing, never went through as it was introduced after I got my license on a GSX1100 back in the early '80's.
It is something like 250cc for 1 or 2 years, then 250cc and over, so your license had different endorsements.

California has an M1 and M2 license/endorsement. You need an M1 for anything interesting.

In Illinois there is a license level of 150cc then for those above 150cc. You will see signs on all interstate roads that motor driven cycles are not allowed. Motor driven cycles are those 150 cc and under.

Afriend of mine wanted to rent an electa glide in Florida. They asked him how much time he had spent on a bike that big and when he told them he had ridden a bike that big couple of times they would not rent it to him. He has had his liscense for over thirty years, they never asked him for a heavy weight license,
