1st Harley you ever rode?

1977 Super glide, bought it in 1978. Rode it until 1992. When I sold it had been re-incarnated twice as a bar hopper (93 inch shovel in a rigid frame) and had uncountable miles on it. Great bike

My dad had what must have been a Knucklehead in the back yard that he was going to restore, that was in 1950 something. I was 5 or 6 at the time. I never really rode it but I did sit on it a lot and go brrrrrrm, brrrrrrm brrrrrrrm. I have often wondered where it went.

It was 1956 or '57. I'm unsure what year the bike was, or exactly what it was for that matter. My father was a motor cop. I remember that it was a tank-shift police Harley with a sprung buddy seat and leather saddle bags. I was 5 or 6 and my father would take my sister and I on rides around the block. She would sit on the big sprung buddy seat behind him. I would sit on the tank.
I remember the smells of gasoline and hot oil. I knew then that one day, I would ride motorcycles and own a Harley. It took me about 45 more years before it happened. Even today, I like to smell my bike as it cools down in the garage, and remember.

In the mid 70's my hometown friend got a chopped 56 panhead hardtail. Would often swap bikes (mine was a '71 Honda 750). Wanted a Harley for the next 30 something years until I finally got my RKC in September...better late than never!
My buddy still has the panhead and I'll be making a road trip this spring to ride with him again.
