Unless, you're getting it at a hell of a price, i think I'd pass.
22K miles is kinda high for a year old rental bike.
Sounds like it might have been rode hard and put away wet.

Just my .02,

The way I see it H-D has to keep those bikes in good shape otherwise they would get an even worse rep then they do now.

It is a business. They need good bikes to rent, and if the mileage gets too high, people won't pay the premium price to rent one. They need to sell them off otherwise they have excess inventory. Can't sell them if they are in bad shape.

I would buy a rental -- but I am no expert

Last time I went to a rally where Harley had there demo fleet, they had 6 bikes lined up waiting for repairs. I'm sure some were well abused just like a rental bike would be. So, NO, I wouldn't buy one

I wouldn't buy a rental, think about it, do you really think this bike has been taken care of? I rented a 2009 Street glide while I was in Merryville because my RK broke down. I'll tell you I was pissed off, and beat the hell out of the poor motorcycle.

Can you even imagine how many times that baby has been left out in the weather, fed the wrong gas, dropped, run past red line, been in a burnout pit or downshifted into second at 70 mph? 22k is a long time and a lot of riders.

Thanks for the opinions - Old Army, your post is probably right on the money. I'll keep looking or buy new.

I would have no probs buying a rental provided:

I undertook due diligence and satisfied myself that all service records are available for review and correct;
It was in good shape with no accident repair performed;
The price was right;and
I could use the opportunity to work a new battery and tyres into the deal.

If it's been looked after it's no different than buying one used-- at least you would know its history.

Personally I treat other peoples things as carefully as, if not better than, I treat my own.

It will probably be in better condition than buying one second hand from someone.
