I bought an 09 EGC with security and cruise added, plus a bunch of other extras added. It had 8400 miles on it, has full 2 year warranty from the day I bought it, plus it was cheaper out the door than the 2006 & 2007s I was looking at. I inspected the bike, looked at the service records, talked to the service department about how the bike was broken in, and went for it. A $2,000 deposit from the dealer for a rental was required.

I went for it. I have an 09 instead of an 06 5 speed or an 07 with an older style frame. Resale will be better for my 09 than an 06 or 07.

The problem I have is financial. I would expect to buy a rental cheaper than the exact same bike from a private owner because they have been renting it for profit, and they have been expensing the costs. A private owner has just been riding and paying the bills.

If the deal was good enough and I liked the bike then yeah, I would.

Mine 2006 SG was rental with 12K on the clock when I got it. I've had no problems with it that are related to the rental. Most people here that say they never would get a rental, never have, so it's opinion only. I recommend giving the tires a good looking over and if they're worn, work a new set into the deal. There was a thread about this same topic a few weeks ago, you might want to do a search.

For me two deciding factors would be ;
A: Warrenty Length and coverage
B: Total savings

Subscribed to this thread for the simple reason will be doing my first Fly and Ride in AZ in April and while I don't plan on babying it do want to enjoy the ride so sure won't be abusing it and have a lot of things wish to see without being stranded waiting for a service replacement .. Harleys will run fine as long as don't overdo it .. As far as buying one no.. I bought my 08 Electra at age 59 and probably my last new Bike but if were to buy another would be new again again or a Cherry used one from a private owner knew had been cared for .. Only takes one bad apple to abuse a Bike ..

Hell yes I would buy a rental! There is far more Harleys damaged by not riding them hard.You can tell by the things guys post here.Most Harleys I have read about and seen are babied too much and over maintained which can be as bad as no maintenance.

Condition,warranty and price! Yep!
What's the difference,you could go buy a used bike from a one owner that fed you a line of BS on how well they maintained it,never rode it hard,never got wet,blah,blah,blah, but do you Really Really know?

Just to clarify ... I don't take peoples word how they treated a bike ... talking about someone I know and how the Bike was treated otherwise would buy new..
